Back on board

SARAH Jessica Parker speaks about her "Bitten" line, and talks about going from hand me downs to style icon status. She talks about the "philosophy of Steve and Barry's" for affordable, well made "slightly trendy clothes" that she just couldn't say no. Click HERE to listen to the interview about bitten, straight from the horses mouth (no pun intended).

What "Bitten" is:
  • An affordable line for those who are style and budget conscious.

  • "Slightly trendy clothes" made for those who wouldn't normally have access to this kind of line.

  • Clothing that is mass produced, yet won't fall apart a week after you wear it.

  • Every single piece costs under $20.00.
Sorry if you were mistaken people, but bitten isn't Net-a-porter. I think a lot of us were so critical early on, because we imagined something edgier, and high fashion. Well high fashion it isn't. This line isn't Carrie Bradshaw inspired, and no Patricia Field didn't work on it either. Although I was a bit put off by the leaked photos (which I can't post because her legal team are vicious pit bulls) I will say that in all fairness, Bitten is a great concept. I'm back on board.

Although you may get your inspiration from Vogue, most young people in America (and around the world for that matter) cannot afford most designer clothing. Trust me, even I Ms. Model Citizen, do not have a closet full of Valentino, or Phillip Lim (whom I'm totally digging right now by the way). Bitten is for the youth, for women who like to mix high end/low end and for the women who just want to wear "slightly trendy" clothes without having to bounce their rent checks.

So kudos to SJP, because in all honesty, she could have "sold out" and done a line with any high end retail chain, but she didn't. She chose to make clothes that were fun, durable for their price range, easily accessible, and the best part of all, completely affordable.
