Nude 101: Eva Mendes

::IN The Nude: A Study In Ideal Form, scholar Kenneth Clark poses the question of nude versus naked in the arts.
To be naked is to be deprived of our clothes, and the word implies some of the embarrassment most of us feel in that condition. The word ‘nude’ on the other hand, carries, in educated usage, no uncomfortable overtone. ... In fact, the word was forced into our vocabulary by critics of the early 18th century to persuade the artless islanders that, in countries where painting and sculpture were practiced and valued ... the naked human body was the central subject of art...nude is an art form invented by the Greeks in the fifth century BC, just as opera is an art form invented in seventeenth-century Italy. The nude is not the subject of art but a form of art.
And here we are again, almost 50 years later, attempting to decipher the boundaries of sexuality in art. Eva Mendes appears entirely nude in her new advert for Calvin Klein's Secret Obsession, causing it be banned in the United States. A G rated version is set to roll out just in time for the holidays, leaving us with question to ponder? Was this really that big of a deal? Is this borderline pornography? did you find it vulgar or tasteful?

I found it to be timeless, and everything it is supposed to be, provocative, sensual, timeless and reminiscent of all things Calvin Klein; artistic expression of the human body in it's purest form...

View the NSFW ad in it's entirety below...

So what's your take on this? Was Eva nude or naked?

I love you...I love you not!

REMEMBER when I posed the question is Kate Moss becoming a has been? Well this one's getting tough...Kate proved us wrong today by creating a buzz beyond massive, across the pond in London town. Top Shop has been taken over, and the British invasion is about begin. Kate's collection was available online at 11:00pm giving non Brits the chance to scoop up some of Kate's gear. Too many tried to get on the site, and thanks to those bitches, the server is down! I guess I'll just have to wait to get one of those killer floor length skirts.

I actually wanted something. There I said it, I admit it. I logged on, and tried to get my share of the CoKate for Top Shop collection. No luck.

(P.s. In case you haven't noticed, my myspace page is up so send me a little hello!)

Were any of you able to score something? fill us in... I want details.

And more thing: PETE'S IN REHAB AGAIN. Does this bring you right back to loving her not?

Help Me See The Light...

I'm confused here. I like/hate these ads. The sneakers I can deal with (I'd possibly wear these), but I'm not sure about Scarlett Johansen in them. The campaign is obviously targeting teenagers, and her sexuality has been toned down ten notches...but this is what makes it so boring! If you're a frequent reader of my blog, you know that I'm not a big fan of endorsements, or celebrities replacing models in fashion campaigns. We get more than enough of these celebutards on a daily basis.

This brand isn't even attempting to tie into Scarlett's sultry persona. Its just so booooooooooring. Trust me, this girl has to be getting plenty of cash to sell out from Louis Vuitton, to Reebok. Maybe she's wearing these with her Louis bags...or not.

Yawn.

Where's the slutty Scarlett we've all come to know? That's what we want to see. Is it? So what's your take of Woody Allen's muse in Rbk? Love or hate?
